A mum-of-one who once tipped the scales at 18 stone said she has her confidence back after shedding five stone in less than two years.

Vicki Smith, 39, transformed her life, along with her eating habits when she joined a branch of Slimming World in August 2015. She ditched ready meals in favour of healthy home-cooked meals such as omelettes, jacket potatoes and salad and the pounds began to drop off. The inspirational mum said she feels like the person she was always meant to be, after a 19-year battle with her weight. Vicki, from Horninglow, Burton, told the Burton Mail: ” I felt trapped in a body that couldn’t do the things I needed it to do.

“It is great to feel normal again and to not be constantly stared at. I have gained so much confidence and enjoy things like clothes shopping which I didn’t do before. “I feel like a totally different person visually but I was the person all along inside fighting to get out.”

Vicki kicked off her super-slimming journey 18 months ago after seeing a neighbour excel on the plan. Her weight also caused numerous health issues. Although skeptical about the weight loss plan due to the demands of raising her little girl, she soon hit her stride, buoyed by the support of her fellow slimmers.

Most importantly Vicki, whose weight took an increasing toll on her health, said she now can be an active mum to her little girl. She said: “My health previously was not good. I had swollen legs, was out of breath, constantly feeling fatigued, now I can run around after my little girl, go to soft play and not worry about getting stuck, sit in a car and not be concerned I’m sitting on some else’s knee.

“It is great to feel normal again and to not be constantly stared at. I have gained so much confidence and enjoy things like clothes shopping which I didn’t do before.” Vicki is now looking ahead to a exciting and healthy 2017, as well as celebrating a milestone birthday.

She said: “It is a big year for me next year, I will be 40 and my little girl will be going to school so I am actually looking forward to the New Year.

“My aims for 2017 are to increase fitness, get to my weight target and continue with my Instagram.”
