A two-year-old boy may never walk again after he was paralyzed by a rare cyst found on his spinal cord.

Emerson Grant used to love playing football and running around but now he faces living the rest of his life in a wheelchair.  The toddler was paralyzed from the waist down by an arachnoid cyst which was first discovered in August, GetSurrey reports.  Emerson became tetraplegic incomplete – meaning he had lost all use of his lower body.

His family say their lives were turned “upside down” by the diagnosis. Mum Anna-Marina Dearsley recalled how the events of last summer changed her family’s life. She said: “Our whole world has been turned upside down. Emerson is paralysed from the waist down and it is unknown if he will ever walk again. “Through intense physiotherapy and hydrotherapy we are hopeful. She said: “We have seen how Emerson is able to self-propel a wheelchair – he demonstrated that whilst in hospital and we are now hoping to fund to get him his own wheelchair so his confidence and independence can grow.
