She’s been in the broadcasting spotlight for almost half a century, and now sources claimed today (March 28) that Barbara Walters will be retiring in May 2014.

The ABC News vet will continue as “The View” co-host through the next season as the show reportedly says farewell to Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Barbara has always discussed her retirement publicly and even hinted at her approaching career decision during a 2011 interview with President Barack Obama.

In order to tame down media reports, an ABC News spokesperson brushed off rumors of Miss Walter’s departure, saying, “Barbara has joked that she is retiring every year since the Clinton administration.”

No statements have been released by ABC News or Miss Walters at this time.
