OSCARS/Angelina Jolie has revealed she would “love” to play the title role in Tim Burton’s Maleficent.

The Changeling star, who next appears in spy thriller Salt alongside Liev Schreiber, has been rumoured to play the villainess in a forthcoming adaptation by the Alice In Wonderland filmmaker and said she would be up for the part.

“I would love to – it’s all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl; she was my favourite,” she told MTV News.

“Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary.”

The film is a darker take on Disney’s Sleeping Beauty story, told from the princess’ nemesis’ point of view.

Angelina also opened up about Cleopatra, whom she’s been confirmed to play in a historical biopic.

The mother-of-six said a portrayal of the iconic Egyptian queen is long overdue, and she’s willing to be on board as long as the circumstances are right.

“I think if we can get the story right, and do the real story… I think there’s a lot about her that’s never been covered yet. So if we can do something original, we will,” she explained.
