The star was showered with praise at the annual awards ceremony after delivering powerful message, where she said she was ‘broken’

Selena Gomez was given some comfort and support by her pal Niall Horan after her moving speech at the American Music Awards.

The Heart Wants What It Wants star was reportedly seen in the arms of the One Direction star after she left the stage after picking up the award for favourite Pop/Rock Artist.

A source told E! News that Niall went straight up to Selena when he was heading back to his own seat from backstage, where he gave her a cuddle and said: “You did so good!”

Niall also retweeted actress Sammy Ray Droke’s message following his performance of This Town, that included Selena, which read: “So proud of selenagomez and NiallOfficial”.

While she was also shown love from Ariana Grande, who reportedly stopped by Selena’s front row seat to speak to her and blow her a kiss.

Lady Gaga was moved to tears by Selena’s words and was pictured cuddling the brunette star backstage.

“So dope I got to hang with with the biggest rockstar of the night. (Ya,know besides Sting and Green Day) …the girl with the biggest prize of all a BIG Heart that she shares with the world,” Gaga captioned the sweet Instagram photo.

It’s been a while, but Selena Gomez returned to the spotlight with a surprise appearance.

The Kill ’em With Kindness hitmaker joined the star-studded guestlist at the award ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, and was the belle of the ball in a stunning scarlet

Pulling her brunette locks back into a poker-straight ponytail to give her look some edge, Selena looked happy to be back on the red carpet and certainly wasn’t a shrinking violet in the commanding gown.

Selena was definitely feeling back to her old self as she posed for selfies with fans, braving the drizzle and plummeting temperatures in Los Angeles before heading into the Microsoft Theater.

Back in August, 24-year-old Selena announced that she would be taking some much-needed time off to deal with her lupus-related symptoms after her Revival world tour.

Speaking to People, Selena said: “As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways.

I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

She continued: “I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support.”

Selena will be surrounded by some of her good pals, with model Gigi Hadid co-hosting the awards as well as One Direction star Niall Horan also performing.
