Sam wants to bring it back

Samantha Womack has revealed that she’d be up for bringing back Babes in the Wood.

The EastEnders actress starred in the classic sitcom back in the 90s, before going on to become one of the most recognisable faces on Albert Square.

Sam starred as 20-something Ruth in the first series of the short-lived comedy, which lasted for two seasons on ITV between 1998 and 1999.

Her co-stars included Denise Van Oughten and fellow EastEnders star Karl Howman.

Speaking to The Daily Star, Sam revealed that she’s been watching back episodes of the sitcom recently and it’s made her eager to relive the memories.

She said: “I was watching re-runs the other day and everyone’s saying ‘it’s the comeback season, you should bring it back!'”

I was watching online and thought ‘yeah, it would be nice to do it again'”

It comes as Samantha thanked EastEnders legend Barbara Windsor after she reached out following Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell’s axe.

She told fans on Twitter: “Feeling loved and supported by my Auntie P. Love her forever.”

Babara, who played Peggy on the long-running soap, previously told The Sun that it was a ‘mistake’ for new boss Sean O’Connor to get rid of the much-loved characters.

“It wasn’t the girls’ choice. It’s the new producer’s decision. I’m sure he’ll be good for the show, but that is a mistake. When I heard I was shocked,” said the icon.
