We’re sure now that he’s reached a plea deal, both Chris Brown and Rihanna are happy that Brown’s fate is no longer hanging in the air. But according to reports, neither are happy with the no-contact clause that’s been imposed, which says that they must remain 50 yards away from each other. The two are reportedly working on their “friendship,” and think that the clause is entirely unnecessary. We don’t think it’s a bad idea for Rihanna to work on her friendship with Chris Brown…as long as she’s working on it far, far away from him.

Speaking to the Daily News, a source close to the former couple explained, “They think it’s unnecessary and ridiculous. After [the proceeding], Ri and Chris talked on the phone for almost an hour and really worked at becoming friends. They’re solid now.”

Rihanna and Chris Brown had the opportunity to be slightly closer together at last night’s BET Awards. Brown and Rihanna are allowed to be 10 yards from each other at industry events. No word yet on whether or not they tied two cans to a string and fashioned an old-fashioned telephone. Probably not, as it likely would have proved distracting to everyone else trying to focus on all the Michael Jackson tributes going on.

Despite their desire to be allowed in the same room together and to be able to work on their friendship, Rihanna and Chris Brown are reportedly not looking to get back together romantically. The source explained, “That’s 100% done. They aren’t looking to hook back up again. They’re both moving on and going their separate ways.” Not that they don’t wish they could go their separate ways while standing a little closer together…

Rihanna has already been romantically linked with “Best I Ever Had” rapper, Aubrey “Drake” Graham. At least she’s allowed to have close contact with him…
