Singer Melanie Chisholm is set to give her first theatrical performance in the West End production of ‘Blood Brothers’.

The former Spice Girl will lead the role of Mrs Johnstone in the musical that tells the story of a pair of twins from Liverpool who are separated at birth and reunited later in life.

The 35-year-old, who became a first time mum after giving birth to little Scarlett earlier this year, will fill the shoes of former ‘X Factor’ contestant Niki Evans, reports the BBC.

Melanie is the first from the former girl band to be taking to the stage as she hops the path previously treaded by Barbara Dickson, Kiki Dee and Carole King who have all played Mrs Johnstone.

The show will be unveiled at London’s Phoenix Theatre on October 26.
