The 58 year-old star was willing to u-turn on her 1989 divorce for the sake of her Raising Malawi foundation

They enjoyed a rather public marriage between 1985 and 1989. But it seems that there’s no bad blood between Madonna and Sean Penn – as they proved when they took to the stage in Florida on Friday night.

The divorced duo were taking part in Miami’s Art Basel, where they were helping to raise funds for the singer’s charity Raising Malawi.

But, while that alone was sufficiently eyebrow-raising, the 58 year-old star stunned attendees when she declared her love for, and offered to re-marry, her ex-husband – in return for a $150,000 donation to the philanthropic foundation.

Dressed in a typically revealing dress, the chart-topper seemed ruthless in her attempt to generate funds at the gala event, which also hosted the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio .

Auctioning off various items, including a custom-made car and items from her wardrobe, Madonna made the unlikely offer while she was selling one of her designer necklaces.

Clearly feeling generous, Sean happily made the $150,000 offer – but was ultimately saved from walking down the aisle with his former wife when another guest out-bid him.

Not that he wasn’t rewarded for the gesture, of course. Madonna allowed him to handcuff himself to her waist, which saw her joke: “The many moments that were our marriage”.

She them upped the ante even further by declaring her love for Penn, saying over the microphone: “I’m still in love with you.”

A cynic would say it was a mere stunt, however, as the pair then auctioned off unseen photographs of their 1985 wedding taken by acclaimed photographer Herb Ritts.

The hilarious footage was captured by Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel, who later uploaded the material to Snapchat.

Not that this is their first reunion. Last year, 56-year-old Milk star Penn was spotted attending his ex-wife’s latest tour for Rebel Heart, throwing his support behind her incredible music career.

Previously, she defended him in a defamation case when allegations were made about his behaviour with women.

In a declaration filed as part of a lawsuit against Empire creator Lee Daniels, who made the claim, Madonna said: “I am aware of the allegations that have surfaced over the years accusing Sean of incidents of physical assault and abuse against me.

“While we certainly had more than one heated argument during our marriage, Sean has never struck me, ‘tied me up,’ or physically assaulted me, and any report to the contrary is completely outrageous, malicious, reckless and false.”
