“American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi is speaking out about Paula Abdul’s shocking decision to leave “Idol.” DioGuardi says it was never her intention to replace Paula. Maybe not, but we’re sure Kara won’t totally mind being the chick with seniority for a change.

Speaking on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, Kara DioGuardi said of Paula’s decision to leave “Idol,” “I can’t get over it. I’m completely shocked. It’s such a loss for the show, such a loss for the contestants. She’s definitely the heart of the panel.” We’d have to agree. It was always good to have Paula’s tears to balance Simon Cowell’s scowls.

Kara added, “The way I’m understanding it is that it was her choice to leave. I never was here to replace her. It would be impossible to replace Paula Abdul. She’s an incredible talent. She is somebody who helped make the show as big as it is. How could you ever replace that? If anything, she was really somebody who helped me, because it was awkward at times being the fourth person.”

Kara DioGuardi said that Paula Abdul was always kind to her during her time on the show. Said DioGuardi, “The kind of heart she treated the contestants with, she treated me with last year. She was so kind to me and made me feel immediately like part of the panel. I’m hoping she’ll reconsider.”

Still, despite all the “heart” Paula treated Kara with while they worked together, Abdul is yet to return Kara’s messages since leaving the show. Said DioGuardi, “I’ve left her a lot of messages. I talked to her last week. I haven’t spoken to her this week.”

DioGuardi also said she is hoping this season, she’ll feel a little more “comfortable.” Explained Kara, “I am excited. You know it’s an incredible show. Last year was tough at times because being the new kid you get beat up a bit, I’m hoping that this year that people are more accepting.” They don’t really have a choice…the most popular girl in school dropped out.
