Kenny, who spent 13 years with the singer, flew to the UK last month amid fears over his health

The love of George Michael’s life desperately tried to save the star as he neared death.

Worried Kenny Goss, who spent 13 years with the tragic singer, flew to the UK last month as fears grew over his fragile state.

The pair had rekindled their friendship and Texan art dealer Kenny was said to be frantic with worry over him.

A friend said: “Kenny knew all too well how things could spiral out of control, so he decided to come over and see him.

“The last few months had been chaotic and troubling for George. He had become increasingly isolated and depressedkenny-goss

“They were talking a lot through text and Kenny knew George was smoking and drinking heavily. He was depressed about his weight.

“Kenny got in touch with the management and assistants team and they were trying to sort something, but it became increasingly clear it was a losing battle. He knew things weren’t right with George and he also came over to say goodbye. They were true loves and nothing could change that.”

The 53-year-old Wham! idol died alone on Christmas Day from suspected heart failure. As the news broke, Kenny, 58, said: “I’m heartbroken that my dear friend and long time love George Michael has passed.

He was a major part of my life and I loved him very, very much. He was an extremely kind and generous man.”

George star met Kenny at posh spa Beverly Hot Springs in Los Angeles in 1996.

They only went public with their relationship two years later when the singer came out after being arrested for “a lewd act” in a California lavatory.

The two went on to set up the Goss-Michael arts foundation in 2007. They split in 2009. George later dated hairdresser Fadi Fawaz, 43. They were last pictured together in September 2015

A post mortem examination on the star has proved ‘inconclusive’. More tests are to be carried out.

Meanwhile, a three metre deep sea of floral tributes has built up outside the star’s cottage in Goring, Oxfordshire, where he died a week ago.
