Amy Winehouse on trial for allegedly assaulting a fan

Amy Winehouse arrived at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning to face charges of assault on a fan who claims the singer punched her in the eye.

The 26-year-old troubled singer arrived back in London from her extended break in St Lucia all teary-eyed last week and since then she’s already divorced husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

According to dancer Sherene Flash, the claimant, Winehouse hit her in the eye after she asked for a photograph of the singer at the charity End of Summer Ball in September last year.

Wnehouse had pleaded not guilty to the assault at an earlier hearing.

Prosecutor Lyall Thompson said at the trial today that Winehouse appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or “some other substance” when she hit Flash on September 26.

Miss Flash told the court of her reaction to the incident:

“I started crying. I was shocked. I couldn’t open my eye for a while. I was just mainly in shock.”
