Who knew that two-time Academy Award nominated actress Amy Adams used to work at Hooters? And who knew the 34 year-old “Enchanted” star was “homely” in high school?

Revealing all this and more (including a topless photo shoot) in the new issue of Allure Magazine, Adams says that as a teenager “I was homely, painfully small, short, with too much blue eye shadow because I thought, it matches my eyes, so why not? Trying desperately to fit in.”

(Uhm….is this what a “homely” teenager is supposed to look like?)

Reteaming with “Doubt” co-star Meryl Streep in the upcoming culinary biopic “Julie & Julia,” Adams goes on to note all that changed after getting through her 20’s. “Thirty was a big deal for me,” says Adams. “It was the age where I re-evaluated everything – how I approached life and how I thought about myself.”

Currently engaged to actor Darren Le Gallo, Adams adds, “When I look at my 20s, or when I look at any period in my life, I think about how much time I’ve wasted trying to find the right man. But the truth is, once you have a great man in your life, it allows you – or at least for me – to look at yourself and grow as an individual. And gosh, if I had known I was going to find this, my 20s would have been completely different.”

Did we mention the topless photo shoot?

“Julie & Julia” hits theatres August 7th.
